Five themed tours are available this year:
Nicosia Walled City Landmarks Tour
Start at Eleftheria Square, the modern entrance to Nicosia’s walled city, then cross the symbolic Ledra Street Checkpoint into the historic center. Continue through Phaneromeni Square and the nearby archaeological site, revealing layers of the city’s past. The route passes through the creative area of Palia Ilektriki and Ermou Street and continues to the Hambis Municipal Museum of Printmaking. From there, visit the historic Famagusta Gate and the Liberty Monument, before walking through the atmospheric neighborhoods of Tillyria Square and Omeriye. The journey ends back at Eleftheria Square, highlighting the history, culture, and character of Nicosia’s old city.

Nicosia Walled City History Tour
Delve into the rich and layered history of Nicosia within its historic Venetian Walls.
The tour includes a guided visit to the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, where the city’s evolution unfolds from antiquity to the modern era. Beginning at Eleftheria Square, the route continues to the Ledra Street Checkpoint and along historic streets of the old city, revealing preserved urban fabric and everyday life within the walled capital. Along the way, participants encounter cultural landmarks such as the Cyprus Classic Motorcycle Museum, Kasteliotissa Hall, and the Holy Cross Catholic Church. The journey concludes at Paphos Gate and the Tripoli Bastion Moat.

Nicosia Byzantine Heritage Tour
Beginning at Eleftheria Square, the route leads into the historic center to the Church of Saint Eleftherios, Subdistrict of the Holy Monastery of Machairas. Nearby, visit the Mausoleum of the Cypriot Ethnomartyrs, a solemn monument dedicated to figures who shaped the island’s modern history.
The walk continues to the Nicosia Town Hall and the impressive Apostle Barnabas Cathedral, located beside the historic Archbishop’s Palace, the spiritual and administrative heart of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus. The journey concludes at the Byzantine Museum of Nicosia, home to one of the most important collections of Byzantine icons and religious art on the island, offering a deeper understanding of Cyprus’s rich Orthodox and Byzantine heritage.
Religion Tour
Nicosia Architecture Walk Tour
Beginning at the former GSP Square, the route introduces one of the city’s most significant areas of contemporary urban transformation. The walk then continues toward Eleftheria Square, one of the city’s most important modern landmarks and the final major project conceived by Zaha Hadid, seamlessly connecting the historic Venetian walls with the modern city.
The route then unfolds through the historic centre, passing along Onasagorou Street and Faneromeni Square, before continuing to the Old Municipal Market (CYENS) and the Town Hall, while also highlighting additional landmarks and points of architectural interest along the way, revealing layers of the city’s civic and cultural life, before concluding at the Old Town Hall.
Curated by Open House Nicosia, part of the Open House Worldwide network, this walk presents Nicosia as an emerging hub of architectural dialogue in the Eastern Mediterranean.
