Conquer the peaks of Nicosia on an epic journey! This challenging cycling adventure takes you from Liberty Square in the heart of Nicosia to the three highest peaks of the district. After Anthoupolis and Agios Trimithias, the landscape transforms: forests, uphill roads, and spectacular views await as you climb towards Madari, where a panoramic view of the entire island rewards you.

The descents lead you through picturesque villages with welcoming locals and small cafés, offering moments of rest and local stories. Then, a magical route through vineyards takes you up to Papoutsa, followed by the final ascent to Kionia, passing through villages and the historic Machairas Monastery.

The route concludes with a relaxing return and an unforgettable view of Nicosia. For those who love adventure and strong challenges, this route is simply unbeatable! 

Road bike

This route is an absolute challenge, so you must be well-prepared for it. You will need several hours of cycling, as well as plenty of food and water supplies. Apart from the difficulty, the route offers stunning views from the three peaks, passing through small picturesque villages, welcoming locals, monasteries, dams, old churches, and generally provides the best opportunity to explore the Nicosia district.

  • Road type and variations (e.g., cobblestones, asphalt, dirt roads): The entire route is on asphalt.
  • Recommended direction for the cyclist: The route is circular, and it is best to follow a counterclockwise direction, initially heading west.

Critical Points on the Route (e.g., dangerous turns, sections with no cycling, signal loss points). The route is generally safe with very little car traffic. However, extra caution is needed on the steep climbs and descents. Also, pay attention at the beginning and end of the route, which pass through busy city roads.
