Tamasos 2 - Ride

Discover a captivating route filled with natural beauty, religious, and cultural landmarks that unfold through ever-changing landscapes! Start from the Tamassos and Oritini Metropolis, where two impressive churches dominate: the majestic Russian church and the picturesque Romanian church.

Within the first few kilometers, you will encounter the Tamassos Archaeological Site and then the historic Monastery of St. Heracleidius, a true gem with a rich history. Continuing through olive groves, you will reach the Tamassos Dam, where the view is simply breathtaking.

As you climb, you will find the Kampiou Mandras picnic area, where you can refresh your supplies with fresh water. From there, pass by the Church of St. Fanourios and get lost in the pine-covered paths that lead to the Machairas Monastery and the historic hideout of hero Grigoris Afxentiou.

For the more daring, from the 25th kilometer, you can take an alternative route towards the Machairas Monastery and the hero’s hideout. On the return, enjoy the beautiful path beside the Pedieos River before reaching the starting point again. A route that will enchant you with the harmony of nature and history

The Tamassos dirt route offers a unique cycling experience, crossing landscapes of unparalleled natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Starting from the Tamassos and Oritini Metropolis, where the impressive Russian and Romanian churches dominate, cyclists have the opportunity to first explore the Tamassos archaeological site and then the historic Monastery of St. Heracleidius.
 
The route, which is mainly on dirt surfaces, continues through olive groves and dams, offering cyclists panoramic views of pine-covered paths. As they progress, they reach the Machairas Monastery and the hideout of hero Grigoris Afxentiou. On the return, the view of the Machairas forest and Nicosia is breathtaking. This circular route combines nature, history, and adventure harmoniously, and is classified as medium to high difficulty due to the steep climbs and descents.
