Discover a captivating route filled with natural beauty, religious and cultural landmarks that unfold through ever-changing landscapes! Begin at the Tamassos and Oreini Metropolitan Church, where two impressive churches stand: the majestic Russian and the picturesque Romanian.
In the first few kilometers, you’ll encounter the Tamassos Archaeological Site, followed by the historic Monastery of Saint Heracleides, a true gem with a rich history. Continuing through olive groves, you’ll reach the Tamassos Dam, where the view is simply breathtaking.
As you ascend, you’ll find the Kampiou Mandra picnic area, where you can refresh your supplies with fresh water. From there, pass by the Church of Saint Fanourios and wander through pine-lined paths leading to the Machairas Monastery and the historic hideout of hero Grigoris Afxentiou.
For the more daring, from the 25th kilometer, you can take an alternative route to the Machairas Monastery and the hero’s hideout. On the return, enjoy the beautiful path along the Pedieos River before ending back at your starting point. A journey that will enchant you with the harmony of nature and history!

The entire route is surrounded by stunning natural beauty, with pine trees and several high viewpoints offering views of the Machairas Forest and the plains towards Nicosia. The route is rich in cultural and religious significance, with key points of interest including the Tamassos Metropolitan Church and the Russian Church, as well as the Tamassos Archaeological Site and the Monastery of Saint Heracleides. Additionally, you can visit the Machairas Monastery and the hideout of Grigoris Afxentiou. On the return, enjoy the scenic view of the plains and Nicosia.
