Embark on a short but culturally and religiously rich journey that begins in front of the Tamassos Metropolis, home to the impressive churches – the majestic Russian and the picturesque Romanian. A little further down, the archaeological site of Tamassos awaits, one of the most significant ancient city-states, rich in history and culture.

Continuing along the route, you will reach the historic Monastery of Saint Heracleides, while the trail through pine trees and olive groves will lead you to the Tamassos Dam, an ideal spot for photography.

Ascend to the traditional community of Kampia, where the small village café invites you to relax and enjoy the hospitality of the area. Finally, descend towards the picturesque community of Pera Orinis, completing a journey that beautifully combines nature, history, and authentic Cypriot tradition.”

Estimated time for the route is around 50-60 minutes. Covering a distance of 14.8 km with an elevation gain of +240 meters, this is an easy route with only a few uphill sections.

The entire journey takes you through stunning natural beauty, surrounded by pine trees and featuring several vantage points with breathtaking views of the Machairas Forest and the Nicosia plain. The route is rich in cultural and religious significance, with key landmarks including the Tamassos Metropolis, the Russian Church, the archaeological site of Tamassos, and the historic Monastery of Saint Heracleides.

The starting point is clearly marked at the Tamassos and Orinis Metropolis, accompanied by a photo for easy navigation. Most of the route is on dirt paths, with occasional changes to paved or asphalt roads. Cyclists should follow a circular path, traveling in an anticlockwise direction and initially heading south.

While the route is generally safe with minimal car traffic, a few tips can help you along the way. Pay extra attention during downhill sections and be prepared for some short but steep uphill climbs.
