The Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and the Nicosia Tourism Board express their particular satisfaction with the positive course of the discussions held in relation to the transfer of the School of Architecture of the University of Cyprus to the school building in the old town of Nicosia.
The transfer of the School of Architecture to the city within the walls is a constant request of NCCI, which has been promoting for a long time. This is an extremely important decision capable of drastically changing the economic and social situation in the region.
Our timeless goal is to return life to old Nicosia and reactivate businesses in the area. The transfer of the School of Architecture highlights in the best possible way one of its most beautiful and important buildings within the walls, the “Girl’s School of Faneromeni”. At the same time, it creates the critical mass that the area needs for recovery, since the relocation of the School of Architecture will undoubtedly attract students and young people, who in turn will attract private investment that will revitalize the area.
NCCI and Nicosia Tourism Board express their optimism that in the next period the relevant consultations will be successfully completed, as the Minister of Finance stated, with the signing of a memorandum between the Archdiocese, the University of Cyprus, the Ministry of Finance and the Municipality of Nicosia.
